RS wins in three categories, and garners top award of ‘Digital in-house team of year’
Oxford, UK, 20 October 2016 - RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the global distributor for engineers, is celebrating triple success in the Digital Impact Awards, the leading event to honour the best corporate digital communications work in Europe across all industry sectors.
At a ceremony held on 18th October at The Brewery, London, RS was presented with Gold awards in three categories: ‘Best digital communication as part of an integrated campaign’; ‘Best use of digital in the engineering and manufacturing sector’; and ‘Digital in-house team of the year’.
In the ‘Best digital communication as part of an integrated campaign’ category RS was pitched against household names including Fitbit, English Heritage and the Royal College of Nursing, and sealed the Gold award for its global launch of the Raspberry Pi 3 single-board computer in February 2016. This was the biggest multi-channel campaign undertaken by RS using all available digital and social platforms, including live streaming, and demonstrated excellence in incorporating digital work into an online and offline communications campaign.
RS clinched Gold for the ‘Best use of digital in the engineering and manufacturing sector’ for its successful implementation of major changes to its end-to-end online experience, with some stand out examples in search filtering and relevancy, stock visibility, quote functionality and SEO. Other contenders in this ‘category included well-known brands Skoda and DeWalt.
RS was singled out from the shortlisted entries in all 31 categories at the Digital Impact Awards to receive the highest accolade of the event - ‘Digital in-house team of the year’. This award recognises the in-house team that leads the way in digital communications.
Judging for the awards was presided over by a panel of 18 digital communications professionals from prestigious businesses across Europe including the BBC, ITV, Coutts, BAE Systems, BT and BP.
Alex Von Schirmeister, Chief Innovation Officer at RS, commented: "This is a phenomenal result that pays testament to the commitment of our digital and marketing communications teams. We are on a journey to digitally transform our business and provide an unrivalled online experience for our customers and suppliers."
Eben Upton of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, said: "Since we launched the first Raspberry Pi in February 2012, RS has played a vital role in delivering the product to millions of customers around the world, making it quick and easy to order online. RS’s multi-channel Raspberry Pi 3 launch was an impressive example of precision planning and cross team collaboration, and the use of new digital and social platforms raised the bar in communicating the news to our customers."
