  • RS Components to showcase how engineers can turn ideas into reality at embedded world 2019

Newest products and innovations and some of the world’s leading suppliers at RS Stand 439 in Hall 3A, 26-28 February, Messezentrum Nuremberg, Germany

LONDON, UK, 4 February, 2019 –  RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE: ECM), a global multi-channel provider of industrial and electronic products and solutions, will be presenting its newest products and innovations and some of the world’s leading suppliers at this year’s embedded world exhibition, to be held from 26-28 February in Nuremberg, Germany. In addition, specialists from the RS DesignSpark team will introduce visitors to the company’s industry-leading suite of free design software at RS Stand 439, Hall 3A.

The Internet of Things (IoT) will be a key theme of the RS stand, featuring development platforms from Sony Semiconductor and Microchip Technology. Sony’s low-power SPRESENSE development platform is designed for versatility and offers many options for IoT developers, including excellent audio and imaging capabilities. Visitors can meet the Sony team and experience SPRESENSE first hand. RS will also be demonstrating Microchip’s AVR-IoT development board, which offers an easy, affordable and accessible way to design and prototype IoT Node applications. More IoT innovations will be featured on an IoT Connected Wall, showcasing products available from RS for IoT development.

The RS DesignSpark engineering platform will be another key feature of the stand, with specialists on hand to demonstrate the company’s range of free-to-download design tools and resources, and to explain the benefits and support offered by this 750,000+-strong engineering community.

Also available for free download from a unique portal on the DesignSpark website is the Zerynth IoT development environment, which simplifies IoT development by providing an easy and efficient way to program the most popular 32-bit microcontrollers in Python or hybrid C/Python, and connect them to the top Cloud infrastructures. Zerynth will run a demonstration on the RS stand in collaboration with Cypress to show how to connect Cypress boards to the Cloud in simple Python and use a blockchain for secure communication. There will also be a new example of the Zerynth AWS IoT library. The code example allows data to be sent to the Cloud in just 15 lines of simple Python. The demo has been prepared with the XinaBox xChip development boards and Zerynth Studio. Zerynth will also be showcasing the popular 4ZeroPlatform, a plug-and-play data gathering, processing, and reporting solution composed of two parts – the 4ZeroBox and the 4ZeroManager. The 4ZeroBox is a Zerynth-powered industrial microcontroller-based board, and is fully programmable in Python through Zerynth Studio. It also has a Zerynth Virtual Machine license on board, a multithreaded real-time OS tailored for IoT.

Another highlight at the RS stand will be Pi Eye. Exclusive to RS, Pi Eye is a camera that integrates with the Raspberry Pi computer to produce high-quality 3D images at a relatively low cost compared to similar solutions.

Finally, in the ‘RS Pro’ zone there will be a real-life workbench that showcases a range of RS Pro tools and technologies.

Visit RS Stand 439 in Hall 3A at embedded world 2019 from 26-28 February to experience all of this and more.
