    01 RS Germany Warehouse 962

Established in 2022/23, the Net Zero Working Group was created to accelerate RS’s progress toward net zero by bringing together operational leaders from distribution sites across the Group. United by a shared passion for sustainability, these colleagues dedicate time beyond their day‑to‑day roles to focus on improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions at their sites.

The group’s purpose is threefold: to understand and optimise current energy use at each site; to identify and implement small‑scale projects; and to develop long‑term net zero plans tailored to each location. Rather than applying a one‑size‑fits‑all, top‑down approach, the group ensures sustainability is embedded into site‑level decision making and rooted in the operational realities of each facility.

    67 %
Reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions since 2019/20
    44 %
reduction in energy intensity since 2019/20
    23
    energy efficiency projects in 2025/26
    29 %
reduction in gas consumption since 2019/20

The group is driven by collaboration – members share best practice and connect outside the monthly meetings to jointly progress cross‑site projects. Their attention to detail – whether switching off heating at the right time or installing LED lighting – shows how small actions drive meaningful carbon savings.

With 23 energy efficiency actions in 2025/26, the team has supported a 67% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions from our 2019/20 baseline. As ambassadors for RS’s climate transition, this group exemplifies the one team effort required to meet our carbon reduction ambitions.
